THE FREEDOM CAFE 2023
This year we are focusing on vulnerability.
How can people still be exploited in today’s advanced society?
What does vulnerability look like and how does it play a part in individuals being exploited?
You will enjoy a session with Patrick Erskine from Internatiomal Justice Mission, followed by a panel discussion featuring individuals working in our community with vulnerable individuals, and someone with lived experience in Domestic Sexual Exploitation, focusing on how we can walk with vulnerable individuals to prevent exploitation as well as heal from it.
To finish off the evening, you'll savor a sit down, catered meal, ask questions and discuss what you've heard with the people around your table.
There will be a few businesses selling their fair trade goods for you to purchase throughout the evening so come ready to shop!
See below for all the info and the link to get your tickets before they're gone!
WILD GINGER COFFEE WANTS TO CHANGE THAT
With your help we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by human trafficking using something as simple and delicious as great coffee!
HOW ON EARTH IS THAT GOING TO WORK?
Great question, we're glad you asked!
Knowing where your coffee comes from and how people are treated along the way is essential to breaking the cycle of labor slavery, decreasing many of the vulnerabilities that make people easy targets for trafficking and exploitation.
At Wild Ginger Coffee, we take the time to source everything we sell ethically and relationally, ensuring that the faces and hands and hearts behind each product are treated with honor, dignity and respect. Everything we know is available to you so you can feel good about what you're purchasing.
We love our coffee farmers, exporters and product suppliers like family, and we want nothing less for them than we would want for our own families. To learn more about our coffee partners click on our FAMILY page
From day one, Wild Ginger Coffee has been committed to giving at least 20% of our profits to organizations working with women trapped in or exiting the sex industry.
That means every single purchase that you make invests in the lives of women. So far we have been able to assist in funding a project in Brazil and are currently working on a local project in Millbank, Ontario.

For survivors of human trafficking, transitioning back into the same world that once exploited them is no easy task and many times they are left without financial support, job training/skills, or community - many of the things that left them easy targets for the industry in the first place.
This is the heart behind the Wild and Free Cafe. Our goal is to create trauma informed, paid internships for our sisters. Besides income, this would provide many transferrable skills, resume content and a sense of belonging. We see the cafe as a bridge being built back between the formerly exploited and their communities in a safe way that sets them up to thrive in their new found freedom.
If you would like to be part of getting the first Wild and Free Cafe up an running, check out our Kickstarter at the top of this page, or click on CAFE for more info.
EDUCATE AND INSPIRE
In 2021 we created The Wild and Free Podcast as a way to continue to learn from those who have been coming alongside victims, those using social enterprise to empower the vulnerable, survivors of the industry, and really anyone who is desiring to live their lives in a way that will make a difference in their corner of the world in big or small ways.
Our hope is that through the power of story, you will be inspired to do something in your corner of the world as you listen and learn along with us.
You can find all of our conversations by clicking on PODCAST, or searching for The Wild and Free Podcast wherever you listen.
